Covert Craving by Jennifer James

I found this great deal and a very good book by Jennifer James!!  On sale for $1.99, originally $3.99!

I read and enjoyed this paranormal romance much more than I thought I would because I am not a fan of superhero books and that was what I first thought when I read the description.  This story is more about gifted individuals being hunted by the dangerous Professor and the government.  I loved the sexual chemistry between Chloe and Jacob!  Talk about HOT!  I was introduced to so many interesting characters and I can't wait for next book in this series because this book left me hanging, in a good way!

Description
**This series contains adult language, explicit sex, genetic manipulation, a crazy scientist, a shady government agency, a real live sewer monster, and an octogenarian voodoo priestess with a dubious shopping list. The science might not be viable, the police procedures may be out of whack (despite the author's efforts to be accurate), and the sewer monster would be offended at being referred to in such a manner. You've been warned.**

She just stripped in front of an NYPD detective...

The glow-in-the-dark water at Camp Sunny Woods left Chloe Sanders with the ability to disappear from sight.

Thirteen years later, she uses her “gift” to take out criminals when she can. If she’s got to be part of a freak show, she’s going to do some good while in the buff.

And he’s enjoying studying every luscious curve…

Color blind detective Jacob Greiff smokes to weaken the overwhelming messages his nose sends him. One summer camp trip was enough for him. His priority right now is busting the vigilante leaving burglars tied up with panty hose and women’s scarves.

He thinks he’s hallucinating when he sees a petite, bare foot brunette in an enormous trench coat at his crime scenes because for the first time in years, he’s seeing someone in full color.

He’s not sure he’s buying it, but Chloe sure looks great when she’s “invisible.”

Despite his own supernatural abilities and the raging lust between them, Greiff wonders if Chloe isn’t some kind of nut who gets off on public nudity. She insists she can disappear from view when naked, that he’s the only one who can see her when she’s in the buff.

Their shared past comes to a treacherous intersection when a man shows up at Chloe’s apartment and informs them at gun point it’s time to report for duty—or else.

City of the Fallen (Dark Tides, book 1) by Diana Bocco

** On SALE for $2.99 for a limited time only! **

I am a lover of vampire romances and this is one of my newest favorites.  Added into it was a post-apocalyptic setting, vampires came out and humans died, which is another favorite of mine.  Isabelle is a strong human woman willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for the human race, kill the king of the vampires.  Marcus, said king of the vampires, is nothing like she and other humans ever imagined.  He does want to enslave humans but he wants them treated humanely, like pets.  He also has a plan to ensure the survival of both races but not all vampires agree with him.  This book is only the first in the series and it does end in a cliffhanger, but I did not mind because it was a very engaging story and I highly recommend it to lovers of paranormal romance.

Book Description:

Five years ago, vampires came out of hiding and took over the world. It was meant to be a quick enslavement but it turned into a bloody battle that brought humanity to the brink of extinction.

Isabelle Bryant is one of the "lucky" survivors, now living in hiding, scavenging for food through deserted towns.

And she's tired of it.

So she's devised a plan: find the king of the vampires and drive a stake through his heart.

Except that wickedly sensual king Marcus is nothing like the monster she expected. And while landing on his bed was part of the plan all along, discovering that he might hold the key to humanity's survival certainly wasn't. The catch? Saving humanity also means ensuring vampire survival. It means giving up hope for a return to a human-ruled world.

As sparks fly and hate becomes heat, Isabelle must pick a side -- before the darkness devours them all.

Red 2

The latest Bruce Willis action comedy, "Red 2," leaves it's audience speechless due to constant laughter! It also proves retirement is not for the weak or unfit. This is, of course, if you are retired from being a spy or agent of one of the many covert agencies run throughout our world.
It is classic Bruce Willis as he, as Frank Moses, tries so hard to be normal and live an average life when he and the life he leads is anything but. Helen Mirren, as the ever-calm, expert hit-woman, steals any scene she graces.
Anthony Hopkins, as the brilliant creator of numerous mass-weapons-of-destruction, Dr. Edward Bailey, was enjoyable if not predictable. Catherine Zeta-Jones was, as always, beautiful. Let's face it, she really doesn't fit in with the average senior citizen crowd.  .
John Malkovich is zany and responsible for much of the comic relief. Mary Louise Parker, as Moses' girlfriend, Sarah Ross, hits all the romance-novel-reading women in the theater with the thrill of actually living out a fantasy. Lee Byung-Hun is too cool but he really wasn't needed for this film to ace it.
There is plenty of killing and spy shenanigans to keep the men of the audience happy and there is enough tongue-in-cheek romance for the ladies.
I highly recommend this film and while you're at it, rent "Red" and watch them in succession.

Review by Jo Ellen Eisaman of  Movie Appreciation Club of Oneida, NY

I am a member of  Movie Appreciation Club and Jo Ellen is a friend of mine who loves to review movies so she is my guest today.  I have asked her to occasionally write up some reviews for current movie releases.  I also loved this movie!  If you are a fan of Red then you will also enjoy Red 2!

Auntie Anne's Home Baking Kit

My husband, being the cook in our family, made Auntie Anne's pretzels using their home kit and I have to say that my family LOVED them.  They are so fresh and tasty!  When buying pretzels from the Auntie Anne store, I find that not every experience is good.  Sometimes the pretzels are old and hard, or thin, or overcooked.  The pretzels you make using this kit are always fresh and cooked the way you want them.  You can make unsalted, salted or cinnamon sugar.  The only two negatives are that it does take a little while to make because you have to wait for dough to rise(only 30 minutes, not hours) and you have to make the whole kit.  Kit says it makes 10 pretzels, husband was able to make 8 regular sized and 1 miniature sized pretzels.  We found we only liked the salted not cinnamon sugar, I recommend you make one of each and choose what you like best.  We made them all then froze them and when we microwaved them while frozen for 30-40 seconds, they tasted just as good as when they first came out of oven. YUMMY!

Hope Springs

I watched the movie Hope Springs and really enjoyed it.  It stars Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones as a middle aged couple attending a week long counseling session with Steve Carell.  This movie is both funny and very emotional.  Meryl Streep plays Kay, a wife who after 30 years of marriage feels unhappy in her relationship with her husband, Arnold, played by Tommy Lee Jones.  She signs them up for an extensive week long marriage counseling session with Dr. Feld, played by Steve Carell.  Arnold feels nothing is wrong with their relationship but very reluctantly goes, mostly I think because his wife has spent a fortune for this trip.  Kay is so unhappy and unsatisfied with her life that she feels that only a professional can help bring the passion back into her marriage. She is willing to do anything that the doctor suggests while on the other hand her husband wants to do nothing but complain about this too expensive trip. I enjoyed the storyline and the interactions between the characters in this movie as they slowly work toward communicating both with words and touch.  I recommend this movie for anyone who enjoys entertaining romantic comedies.

Monsters University

I saw the movie Monsters University and  took my 7 year old daughter and her friend to see this movie believing it would be perfect for her age group.  Even though it was a cartoon about childhood monsters, this movie was more appropriate for teens when it comes to understanding the content.  My daughter and her friend were lost thru most of this movie.  A lot of the humor was lost on them and I do not believe that they laughed more than a few times.  I recommend this movie for older children (over 10 years).
